Why SADHAN
It was towards the end her study in university when she was abused. Since the society does not accept an abused girl, so she forced to marry the abuser. Only after marriage, She realized how both worlds can clash and not everyone has this mindset. She showed her love to her husband, took care of him, more than of herself. After one year of marriage She gave birth to Ayush who is now no more. Then her husband faced an accident and he couldn’t work anymore. To meet the family needs, She taught students in the mornings and during the days She worked in an NGO as a trainer of health workers. In the meantime She gave birth to her second son.
But things turned bad when her husband fully recovered and that is when the terror started. Now her husband was able to work and thus her husband tried to force her to leave her job. She was satisfied with her job and couldn’t understand why her husband refuses to accept me gaining income. He was also suspicious that She might see other men. This was the beginning of the daily mental and physical abuse.
Her husband torture was terrible and she was often not even allowed to eat food. After six years of marriage her husband forced her to sign divorce papers. In society, a divorced woman becomes a disgrace for the family and neighborhood. Many women commit suicide because the divorce becomes a greater burden than an abused marriage. She left her husband’s home with nothing but her three year old son with her.
Luckily, within fifteen days she got a government job in a hospital. This helped her become financially independent. Even in the workplace, She was judged and criticized by senior colleagues. In her working place she came across many women who were affected by violence, just like her. This showed her how bad the situation of women is and she founded an organization SADHAN to address violence against women issues. To gather more knowledge, she joined in kanthari which gave her more strength and courage to address violence against women issues.
